Southern Sinfonia: Inside the Orchestra

What does it feel like to sit inside an orchestra, close enough to see the bows move, feel the rhythm and hear the music surround you?

Inside the Orchestra is a relaxed and welcoming event from Southern Sinfonia, the South West's professional chamber orchestra. Across a series of short sessions, audiences can experience a live string orchestra at close quarters, with a limited number of seats available on stage amongst the musicians. Additional seating will also be available in the auditorium.

Rather than a formal classical concert, this event is designed for first-timers, families and anyone who would like classical music to feel accessible and engaging. The conductor will introduce the instruments and share the stories behind the music, while musicians demonstrate how melody, rhythm, texture and accompaniment combine to create an orchestral performance.

Featuring familiar and instantly enjoyable music selections, each session offers a friendly atmosphere with the lights up and an informal approach. The event is SEND-friendly, carers are welcome and information will be provided in advance to help visitors feel comfortable attending.
