This talk is part of the autumn programme of the Somerset Industrial Archaeology Society.
Paul Upton recalls how brothers William and Thomas Stoate established a flour milling business in Watchet in 1832. The business later introduced steam power, helping to modernise production, but suffered a major fire in 1911.
The mill was subsequently used by the Exmoor Paper Bag Company, whose turbine is now preserved and on display outside the building.
